As we are all aware, we have just had none uniform day on Monday this week. We were asked to wear our brightest and the most colourful clothes which we could find at home to wear to school.
On Monday when school started it looked as though we had a rainbow flowing in our classrooms and hallways. Everybody was so well dressed in their bright colours.
Mr Cutis came in the brightest yellow pants which he could find, for those who had a chance to see him they were brighter than the sun, but he looked very cool. All the teachers made an effort to do so; even Mr Jackson came in with his bright pink shirt (well-done Mr Jackson).
What I would like you to do today is to write about what you wore on Monday to school for none uniform day and what your favourite colour is.
For those who do this quickly, can you please tell us all who you thought was the best dressed teacher and why.
We have just had a very loud and colourful night sky this weekend, due to a tradition which has been going on for many years.
Bonfire night started in November 1605; Guy Fawkes was the reason to this amazing and colourful night.
Did anybody go to see any fireworks on the 5th of November?
If so, which ones did you like best?
- The loud ones?
- The colourful ones?
- The big ones which shoot up like rockets?
- The sparklers which you may of held?
Tell me, Mr. Ali and everybody else in your class which was your favourite one and why. What were you wearing and where did you go to see the fireworks?
Year 3 Unicorns went to visit Skipton Castle on Monday the 11th of Oct 2010.
It was a bright and sunny Monday morning, all the children were very excited about their trip to see the castle. We started our trip by arriving at school extra early, once we were all together we made our way to the big white and red coach which would be taking us all to the castle which we were all so excited to see.
We in Class 9 Unicorns are enjoying our topic this half term. Our topic is Knights, Castles and Magical Kingdoms. In Literacy we have been focusing on non-fiction texts, especially those books that teach us all about materials and their properties. We are becoming very skilful at identifying all the features of non-fiction texts ie contents page, headings, sub-headings, captions, glossary, index etc.
On Monday 11th October we visited Skipton Castle in Yorkshire. We have spent many weeks looking at castles in books and on the internet. We learned how to name/label different parts of the castle, and know what they were used for. As well as this we talked about the many materials which were used to make them and why. We have been using appropriate adjectives to describe lots of different materials eg rough, smooth, hard, flexible, transparent, and opaque and many others. Feeling the materials with our eyes closed was fun. We carried out an investigation in our science lesson to find out whether certain materials were waterproof or not.
It was very exciting to finally see a real castle and have our own tour of the various areas. We got to see, feel and describe many of the materials we had been learning about. We took lots of photographs of our visit to the castle showing the different areas. These we will display in our classroom once we have added our own captions.
Our class have loved listening to the ‘George and the Dragon’ stories and find them very amusing. For the next few weeks our literacy lessons will be based on these stories and other similar stories. In our writing we will write fantastic descriptions of characters and settings using awesome adjectives, similes and wonderful ‘wow’ words.
